International Vintage Sailplane Meet 2024

July 6-13,  2024

2024 marks the 8th International Vintage Sailplane Meet (IVSM) and the Vintage Sailplane Association’s 50th anniversary. The IVSM is the premier vintage sailplane meet in the United States. Since 1995 it has featured the largest number of vintage sailplanes on display and flying at one spot on the North American continent.

The International Vintage Sailplane Meet is a product of the Harris Hill Soaring Corporation (HHSC) the National Soaring Museum (NSM) and the Vintage Sailplane Association (VSA). The National Soaring Museum offers its elegant museum facilities atop Harris Hill and handles registration, information, meeting venues, gathering spaces and weeklong activities. The HHSC provides flying operations, tows, check rides and introductory flights for visitors, from its home on the scenic, world-famous Harris Hill Gliderport.  The VSA marshals its members to acquire, restore, refurbish and fly their gliders during the meet. VSA members bring sailplanes from throughout North America (and other countries as well) so their owners can discuss, learn, show and fly them for the benefit of participants and visitors.

VSA 50th Anniversary

In 2024 the Vintage Sailplane Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary from the site of its original founding, Harris Hill. Speakers will relive the original thoughts of the founders of the vintage movement in the United States. They will also present plans to further preserve sailplanes as they age toward their first full century amid the worldwide soaring movement. The anniversary celebration, on July 10, 2024, will be topped off by an evening “Low Country Boil” served at Harris Hill’s historic Youth Camp facilities. The evening will offer informal opportunities for stories from the past and plans for the next 50 years.
